Wind instruments make a rare but welcome appearance in our series, enabling us to hear Mozart’s quintet featuring horn and two violas and the better-known one with clarinet, together with an exuberant student work by John Ireland.
The Tippett Quartet have recorded all five string quartets by Michael Tippett, which show the ever-present influence of Beethoven and the Elizabethan madrigalists.
